Cost effective remedies are available to prevent fugitive emissions but Big Gas will not willingly use these remedies. Instead, they hide their dirty secret while peddling natural gas as a “bridge fuel” that is “clean-burning.”

The drilling that is done in the Barnett Shale in Texas is the same kind of  horizontal fracking that is proposed for NY State. It is basically exempt from EPA regulations such as the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts. The regulating body in NYS will be the Department of Environmental Conservation, which has shown neither the will or the where-with-all to protect our health or environment from the predatory practices of the gas industry.

If you’d like just such a facility spewing it’s “secret sauce” all over your land, by all means trust the industry and the landowners coalitions.
